As announced by US President Obama, Osama Bin Laden, the man responsible for the tragic 9/11 attack, is finally dead--killed by American soldiers in a mission ordered by the US President himself. Interestingly enough, just a few moments after Obama's announcement, it seems that the news had already reached millions of people. How did you find out about Osama's death?

Facebook. I found out about Osama's death when my Facebook friends started posting about it--updating their status, sharing news links, videos, and so on. And for the majority of the people around the world, this was exactly how they found out about this shocking news as well.

In a recent question posted by Tech Crunch on Facebook, it is undeniable that social network's role in keeping people informed about the current events is really of great importance. Facebook's role in people's awareness did not only play a huge part in this shocking historical event, but also in other events such as Egypt's Revolt, and the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.

Are you finding yourself more aware of current events through Facebook? How useful is Facebook to you in keeping up with the latest news worldwide?
